Background Research

Before choosing the Simon Bates and Junction as the client. We came up with a few ideas of other places we could work for.

Finding a commission

Addenbrookes Hospital - A woman who works in promotions at Addenbrookes hospital came to our class and asked us to design a poster to promote a rise in students to work at the hospital and receive training in nursing. This poster was to encourage people from different backgrounds and societies, for a more varied work place. This would be a good experience working with a client and interacting with them meeting their needs in terms of brief, but I didn't feel there was much room for creativity.
Arts Picture House - The APH is a cinema that serves the community in the city centre. Together with other Picture Houses are the independent cinema operator in the UK. Last year I worked for them during their film festival, this could present an opportunity in which they could help me in my course and be my client to produce some work for them.
Shakin' Moos - SM is a local milk shake shop, specialising in blending any ingredients. Me and two others approached them and asked if they wanted any work produced i.e. promos, adverts and art work. Chris Lane (the manager) thought this was a good idea and gave us flyers to produce, this is the best idea for our project so far.
The Junction - The Junction is a arts centre providing for dance, theatre and music. Are college is linked with The Junction as the CRAM have often done lessons there. The Junction often hold a night called The Junction Fiver, this is essentially 5 bands for a fiver. They often have the same bands, nearly all local and occasionally from across the nation. The try to have bands from all ranges from young teenagers to a lot older. Simon Bates from The Junction has asked for a promo to encourage bands to get involved, not promoting to sell tickets.

The Junction is the client we'll be going with, but I will continue with Shakin' Moos as a side project.
